You are no longer a JW, but you still carry blind faith with you. When it comes to health the easiest and best choice is exercise (weight training and aerobics) and a good balanced diet. Add some meditation or yoga to release stress. Don't worry too much about supplements or foods with extraordinary claims of preventing or curing diseases, unless there's very strong research behind the claim.

You have two options
1. Run, run away from this relationship
2. Spend few months doing some thorough research, and then run away as far as possible from any relationship with men who belong to religions like these.
Well, there's a third one. Make him quit his religion. But on this point your chances are not good at all.
I am married to a good JW woman and I can confirm that what Carla says above is absolutely truth. And please don't you think that you will change your man after you marry him. He will dump you right away if you try it.

Thank you for your response. I certainly can agree with the husband-wife, attorney-client, doctor-patient privileges. However, as you suggested implicitly, many of us find quite troublesome how religion uses and abuses the clergy-penitent privilege, especially in cases of child abuse, where it has become very clear that the so called spiritual leaders are bent of protecting their material, earthly possessions and have no regard for the well being of children. Their greed takes them as far as protecting known pedophiles, who in many cases will go on to abuse more children. You see why this religious privilege is hard to justify when you set it against the other three categories, attorney-client, doctor-patient and husband-wife. I hope that, as the distaste for religion grows and its political influence wanes, law makers reconsider this undeserved privilege for religion.

You are right, the Watchtower becomes an extraordinarily worldly organization in the secular courts. Truth, honesty, humility, cooperation and the pursuit of the greater good for the community are qualities that are left outside of the courtroom. But when it comes to dealing with the flock, the Watchtower leadership demands those qualities like tyrants who are ready to apply the harshest punishment to anyone who dares question their views or orders.
One word: Hypocrites!

It's very appropriate that we heed the prophetic word of Jesus in his analogy at Luke 14:28
- "For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?"
The Governing Body did not plan their Watch-tower very well. They sat down, but didn't count the cost. They keep overlapping bricks (generations) but they don't have enough to complete it.

R.O.: Equal protection does apply here because all recognized religions receives this privilege and is not dependent on how the state views a certain religion.
That's not what I was referring to. Equal protection clause should be applied equally across all people,religious or non religious. Why is a priest or an elder enjoying greater privileges than the average Joe, or a doctor, or a teacher. Something very wrong there. Everyone or nobody.

I feel like I'm losing my religion/faith
by christina1111 ini'm a baptized jw...been baptized for 8 years...and throughout the years i've been baptized i see "hypocrisy" so to speak in the religion...when you're new and not baptized that's when the jws want to invite you to every gathering they have, they want to appear like they're your best friend...they want to help you out when needed and so forth...however, once you're baptized you go to the elders for help they don't help you....all they do is gather you around the office...have bibles in hand and so forth...they give you articles as well, instead of physically helping you out....but yet when you weren't baptized they would physically help you out and not throw scriptures and articles in your face.
also when you ask for help and so forth with the bros/sisters they want to throw the "each one must carry his/her own load" scripture at you.....but yet what happened to the scripture of taking care of widows and people who are orphans?.
it's not just one congregation...throughout the 8 years i've been baptized i've been through many kingdom halls...many towns...many states...when i was inactive for awhile i even pretended to not be baptized and just play dumb when the witnesses came to my door...they're much nicer to you when you're not baptized then when you are baptized...why is that?.

Jesus also demonstrated things like, that there were in reality only two laws: Love God and Love your Neighbor as Yourself. He also said his yoke was easy and his load was light - unlike other pursuits.
Jesus said lots of good things and plenty of bad stuff that you and I don't practice, such what I quoted before. What I find amazing Perry is that 2 billion people believe that the Bible is the inerrant infallible word of God. That conclusion can only be reached by blind faith and complete ignorance of the history of Judaism, Christianity and the Bible itself.

Her story cannot be verified from just listening to her accusations. Maybe they are true and maybe they are not....That is only one sideof the story presented here
You are 100% right, we only get one side of the story. The curious thing is that this story is quite consistent with thousands of other stories around the world. Victims are discouraged from speaking, often blamed and shunned. Victims don't get any therapy or professional counseling and secular authorities are not informed of the crime. You are right, it is a one sided story... corroborated by thousands of similar stories.
I have no proof that there were concentration camps in Poland, but when millions of victims speak out, including JW's, I have no choice but to believe that there were.

The victims father is an elder. Will he be disfellowshipped for this wilful neglect? Will he be stood down for failing to be exemplary?
Are you kidding me? He is exemplary because he puts the interests of the Watchtower before the interests of his own child.
